چکیده

Realizing Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) cloud requires a control platform to orchestrate cloud resource provisioning, configuration, and decommissioning across a distributed set of diverse physical resources. This orchestration is challenging due to the rapid growth of data centers, high failure rate of commodity hardware and the increasing sophistication of cloud services. This paper presents the design and implementation of TROPIC, a highly available, transactional resource orchestration platform for building IaaS cloud infrastructures. TROPIC’s orchestration procedures that manipulate physical resources are transactional, automatically guaranteeing atomicity, consistency, isolation and durability of cloud operations. Through extensive evaluation of our prototype implementation, we demonstrate that TROPIC can meet productionscale cloud orchestration demands, while maintaining our design goals of safety, robustness, concurrency and high availability. Cloud Resource Orchestration: A Data-Centric Approach

Cloud computing provides users near instant access to seemingly unlimited resources, and provides service providers the opportunity to deploy complex information technology infrastructure, as a service, to their customers. Providers bene t from economies of scale and multiplexing gains a orded by sharing of resources through virtualization of the underlying physical infrastructure. However, the...

Optimizing resource topologies of workload in the cloud by minimizing consumption and maximizing utilization while still meeting service level agreements

Reducing the total cost of ownership (TCO) and meeting the service level agreements (SLA) of a computing service or application in the Cloud remains a challenge. The traditional method of meeting SLA is to size production systems based on expected peak workloads, thus this leads to very low compute resource utilization. Our experience shows typical average utilization rates of 35 40%, topped on...

Deadline-sensitive workflow orchestration without explicit resource control

Deadline-sensitive workflows require careful coordination of user constraints with resource availability. Current distributed resource access models provide varying degrees of resource control: from limited or none in grid batch systems to explicit in cloud systems. Additionally applications experience variability due to competing user loads, performance variations, failures, etc. These variati...

Temporal Reconfiguration-Based Orchestration Engine in the Cloud Computing

In our days, the cloud computing wins a great importance. So it becomes the refuge of many companies especially Small and Medium sized enterprises (SMEs), since it provides computer services witch fits with demand and charged according to their use. Now the evolution towards the cloud is promoting that orchestration business process to be run as a service (Orchestration as a Service (OaaS)). Oa...
